Last week, I talked about cultivating peace in your home as the first step to creating a sense of sanctuary. If peacefulness is the foundation for your structure, then Order is the pillars that holds it up. This is great news for both of you out there who are naturally neat.
Not so great news for the rest of us who struggle to get organized.
But there is hope!
I like to use the term "Order" because it feels a little bit friendlier than "Organized." Order gives me a sense that there is some wiggle room in there for my easy-going ways.
I can live with that.
Having order in your home simply means that there is enough structure, organization and cleanliness to allow family members the freedom to function and grow freely as human beings.
It means that you aren't constantly frustrated by the lack of clean socks, you are able to find a clutter-free place to sit down, you can find things when they need them, and you are proud to have guests over. It means that you are free from the chains of disorganization so that you can pursue personal goals.
Let's face it: life is always going to be messy. There is a certain amount of haphazardness that comes with the busy lives we lead. But wouldn't it be nice to at least have a sense of order in the middle of all that busyness?
I believe that is possible. In fact, I KNOW it is possible.
For the next few blog posts, I'm going to talk about ways to create some order in your home and personal life. I've discovered some simple ways to radically change the way you approach cleaning and organizing that will help you carve out some sanctuary at home.
If you are frustrated with your mess and angry at yourself for not being able to pull it together, this little series is for you. Stop beating yourself up, take a deep breath, and relax. We are going to do this together...and by the end you'll have the tools you need to get you on your way.
Let's create some order around here.
