November is my favorite month.
I love the crisp mornings, the brilliant leaves and the smell of soup simmering on the stove. I love Thanksgiving and pumpkin pie and believing that THIS holiday season I'll be more organized than last. (Reality will hit me in December, but I can dream in November.)
I love that it's my birthday month. And this is my birthday week. And that this year is a Big Birthday Year. {shhhhh. I'm still trying to embrace this number.}
I love that we are together every day to make our lives better.
This month, we are going to play for POINTS, as it seems like we all love them even if we don't actually keep track of them. Just knowing that you *could* earn 50 points for washing dishes, or cleaning up dog poo, or folding socks makes us feel happy, right?
Thought so.
Let me tell you! We will be playing for a $30.00 gift certificate to Everyday Icing - a company created by someone I've admired for a long time, Kimba from A Soft Place to Land. Kimba stopped blogging awhile ago so she could do other things, like start Everyday Icing - company that offers awesome accessories while helping to support Compassion International. What an amazing way to benefit others through her business. And she does it all on Facebook!
Here is what Kimba says:
Everyday Icing Accessory Auctions was born from a love for designer jewelry, but not designer prices. We're busy moms with a budget to watch and we love how a fantastic piece of jewelry can make any outfit special. It's the least expensive way to take an outfit from plain to fabulous!
Check out how the auctions work by visiting the Everyday Icing's Facebook Page. "Like" the page, and then be sure and add it to your Interests by clicking the little gear icon. You'll see the Auctions pop up on Monday nights at 9 pm eastern time - and when you see something you like, simply comment "sold!" Items are beautiful AND affordably priced, and shipping is free. I think this is a really fun concept and something you will enjoy being a part of.
And I know you're going to love getting a gift certificate!! As always, I'll also have a Random Drawing prize available for everyone who does at least one Small Thing during the month as well.
So let's start this November off easy:
Today's Small Thing is to print off a Tally Sheet.
The Tally Sheet is a little way to kick procrastination to the curb and remind yourself in a visible way that you are making progress toward sanctuary. We will do small, daily tasks that will fight clutter, get us organized, and most of all, wrap our heads around these important ideas:
Everyday, I am making progress.
Each Small Thing I do is important.
My efforts are valuable.
I am showing love to myself and my family by taking care of the little things.
I am not a victim of overwhelm or failure, and I have something good to offer this world.
I create sanctuary for my family by pursuing peace, order and beauty.
I am starting where I am.
I might have to print off those words and stick them on my fridge! This is what the Small Things are all about.
Points: 40 for printing off November's Tally Sheet (link is above)
Are you in?? What do YOU love about November?
