Last night, as I was removing my nail polish while waiting for my Clairol Light Ash haircolor to work its magic on my roots, I had a sudden feeling of panic over the chemicals being used in my small, poorly ventillated bathroom. Was I absorbing toxins through my skin portals? Would my cells start to explode? Maybe not, but at the very least, I know was high from the fumes. Woo!
Why, all I need now is to apply some Nair Hair Remover to my upper lip and I may not live to see another day!
I skipped the Nair and opened the the door from some fresh air. Ahhh.
When I emerged an hour later, I felt beautiful and ready to take important phone calls, which will naturally happen today because of the Clairol. Also, my nails are done. And I only killed a few hundred brain cells in the process.
I think I need to detox.
So now I'm wondering about "Detoxing." Perhaps a better, more positive term would be "Cleansing." I know people who regularly talk about "doing a cleanse," (said, "clenz," with an optional "ah" at the end) but I don't quite have the nerve to ask what all is involved with that. I just smile knowingly and nod my head like its something I do all the time, too. Yes, of course I clenz.
I know enough to know that there is deprivation and green tea involved...two things I do not tolerate well. I checked out Dr. Oz's 3 Day Detox-Cleanse and saw that the addition of kale into the mix would definitely put this regimen into the "Sounds Horrific" category.
Kale, people. KALE. And lots of it.
How about you? Do you Clenz? Detox? Fast? Embrace Deprivation and Green Tea for the Greater Good? I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, especially after last night's chemical soiree, but I need some guidance, my friends. I'm looking to you for advice!
Leave a comment with your Detox horror stories and/or your glowing reviews of your favorite body cleanse strategies. I really think I'd like the "Feels Good Afterward" part, but I'm nervous about the "Feels like Hell for Three Days" part that comes just prior to that.
Hey, let's have some caffeinated beverages before we detox! Is that so wrong??
