Before I get into Today's Small Thing, I must "dish" about how excited I am about the upcoming year here at Home Sanctuary! I've got some plans working in my creative little brain, and I can't wait to start implementing them for a truly FUN year in 2013. I love getting to be part of your lives each day, and feel so honored that you are part of mine....so I am focusing on ways to make this blog even more fun and meaningful for you. Stay tuned!

So....speaking of dishing, last night I spent about 8 minutes on a simple task that reenergized my love for my kitchen and the entire world.
I rearranged a few dishes. Just my daily things. And it feels so good.
It seems that my "daily" white dish poplulation has been shrinking, so I've been pulling in a small set of red "winter" dishes to have enough to get through each day. They are sized differently and just look messy when they get all shoved in there together.
It only took a minute to arrange them by color, and it instantly looked better. So neat!
The coffee cups are always an eyesore because there are too many different kinds.
By grouping similar cups together, it looks a whole lot better....and I didn't even break a sweat! Once I got into it, I noticed my winter mugs stored way out of reach, so I took the opportunity to press them into their seasonal service. They obliged quite happily.
Today's Small Thing is to spend a few minutes straightening up your daily dishes.
If you're like me, you just unload the dishwasher as quickly as you can without giving much thought to how things look in the cupboard. Hey, those dishes are just going to get taken out anyway, right? I feel ya. But my few minutes of effort did more than just make things neater. It made me feel...on top of my homemaking game. Like a real Housekeeping Diva Extraordinaire.
Being intentional about something so small is an easy way to feel victorious, even if the rest of the house is going to hell in a handbasket. Enjoy your small victory, and don't let anything else take you down today! You are invincible.
LET'S DISH TODAY! Take before and after photos and share them on your blogs, instagram, twitter or Facebook! Or just tell us about it in the comments. If you post them somewhere, be sure and let us know in the comments so we can admire your greatness.
