I launched into Day 2 of the Jungle Theme bathroom with this as my starting point. Pretty underwhelming:
I didn't quite know where to start on the foliage so I just started throwing some random plants on the wall. I figured they'd start overlapping and looking alright once I got enough of them on there.
Ugh. This is the point in painting murals when I am convinced this is going to look horrible. "I can't pull this one off," I think to myself.. and then I try and force myself keep going and see it through. This is a good time to break for lunch so I can gather my wits. I add the basecoats for flowers...still not happy.
Adding dark purpley-green mix as shadows really helps make the plants seem like they aren't floating anymore. I'm feeling better. Shading the flowers and leaves helps a whole bunch, too...even though they still aren't finished.
I made a little bit more progress on the wall with the log. I added some dark green leaves, shadows and flowers. Trying not to worry that I didn't get farther along....but I just couldn't go any faster.
Today, a flamingo will go on that first wall - right smack on top of the mound of foliage. I've never painted a large flamingo before (or a small one either, for that matter) so I'm holding my breath. I will keep posting photos of my progress, if you are interested. :)
I'm not going to post a Small Thing today... because I'm kinda drained. Although I'm enjoying this mural, my project site is about an hour and a half through traffic each way....and it's making for some looong days. Also my butt and hamstrings are really sore from squatting on the floor to paint and that's affecting my ability to type.
NOW, on to our Coffee Time. It's our weekly link-up that is easy and fun. I have truly enjoyed getting to visit everyone the last couple of weeks and will try and get around this weekend as well. If you want to join in, simply enter your blog URL below! We have a great group of Company Girls and I know you'll love getting to know them!
