I have really been enjoying reading all the new recipe ideas from Wednesday! You gals came up with so many ideas I never would have thought of - and it will be fun to try and create some of them on my own.
The new recipe I'm going to try is for banana cream pie. My husband celebrated a very big birthday yesterday (50!) but we did not have a chance to have a party last night. The kids are going to come over this weekend and I hope to prepare a couple of pies - Tom's favorite. The trick is going to be that I don't really have any time to mess with actually cooking the filling and making the crust - because our women's retreat is this weekend as well. Bit of a challenge.
So, short of buying a frozen Marie Callender's pie (which I will still have as a back-up option) I've found a recipe online that looks a little less time consuming than the 100% "from scratch" kind. Don't judge, I'm in a pinch. I also want to avoid having a soupy disaster since I'll only have a small window of time to make these pies happen.
My question for you is: graham cracker crust or pastry crust? If graham cracker crust - I'll make it from scratch because store bought ones make me gag. If pastry crust - um, I'll go for a refrigerated crust from the store. So what kind of crust do you like with your banana cream?? I shall await your group decision...
I would like to invite you to join in for "Company Girl Coffee," our weekly link up on Fridays here at Home Sanctuary. I know that many of you have made some great friends through this little web-klatch and it makes me excited to think of the connections being made right here. Grab the little coffee icon in the right sidebar by copy/pasting it into a blog post, then enter your blog post URL into the linky tool. Non-bloggers can participate in the comment section below so we can keep up with you that way.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
