My project here in Big Spring, Texas is going....well, it's going. We've gotten a lot done but it feels like there is a long, long way to go.
Here is a boxcar that is awaiting a million rivets to be painted on it. I'm hoping that a volunteer will be willing to learn my super easy technique for rivets...but any way you slice it, a million of them will take awhile. Can you see the real door to a janitor's closet? What a fun disguise.
Unfortunately, a lot of the walls still look like this one, waiting to be finished. This elephant is part of our African safari room and will be paired with a cool tree as silhouettes on either side of a flat screen. They will be chocolate brown on the gold wall, very safari-ish.
Here is a particularly bad photo of everyone, but shows the 1950's Diner theme that is underway in the pre-teen room. The wall color is Sherwin Williams "Drizzle," perfectly delicious. They are getting cool diner furniture and vintage decor.
I'm about a day behind where I thought I would be on the murals, and we are working 12 hour days. My feeties hurt.
But enough about my toils. Let's welcome a new month of Small Things, and collectively welcome new Company Girls into our fold. April is a perfect time to "officially" get started turning your home into a true sanctuary, so grab a Tally Sheet from the sticky post at the top of my blog and begin racking up the points - and having fun along the way. Hey, there might be a better way to get motivated, but I can't think of one. :)
Ya'll know I can't resist a good play on words, so Today's Small Thing is all about April Showers. We KNOW we should clean our showers weekly, but really...WHO DOES? Technically, tubs and showers are on my weekly housekeeping schedule, but I'll freely admit that there are a lot of weeks that I think they are at an acceptable level of clean and can wait until the "next" week. I live in denial, people.
Today's simple task is to clean your shower/tub area. We've done this several times...and it's still simple. Remove the old razors and empty bottles and do a little scrubbing. How long does it take to scrub a tub? I don't know, how about if you tell me!
POINTS: 50 for getting in there and scrubbing the soap scum and mildew you might have.
BONUS POINTS: 20 for telling us something about your accomplishment: how long it took, what your favorite cleaning product is, what child you delegated this task to, how many razors you threw out, and whether or not you took a bath afterward (to celebrate)....you choose!
**A Big P.S. If you did not have a chance to turn in your points from March, this is your lucky break. I will not be able to go through the emails until this weekend, so I will accept tallies and emails through Saturday night, 12 pm CST. Keep 'em coming!
