A special shout-out to Melissa at Seven Matters, for sharing her Company Girl wisdom with the mom's group at her church yesterday. She had a chance to talk about housekeeping schedules and sanctuary and all the stuff we love around here. I wish I could have been there - I know she did a great job. And if you are new to this blog as a result of Melissa's invitation, we want to welcome you!
I had planned to write a post about enlisting your children's (and spouse's) help with the housekeeping, but I've thought better of it because we've already worked so hard this week. So much to think about! I'm still chewing on my Housekeeping Schedule and could use a break. Did you read through yesterday's comments? There were some great suggestions, and Christin was kind enough to link to her Daily and Deep-Clean schedules. Her Deep Clean one really shows how the work can be broken up into manageable pieces - not everything needs to be cleaned every week, it can be spread out over a month or more. Thanks, Christin!
So we'll keep it easy today but stay in the spirit of sharing. Today's Small Thing is to share a task.
It could be a job that is normally "yours," like washing dishes. Throw someone a dishcloth and ask them to give you just a few minutes of help.
It could be a job that is normally your husbands: the trash, the car, picking up his socks, taking a child to sports practice. Ask if there is anything you can to to share the load.
It could be a job that belongs to your child: feeding the dog, making the bed, putting toys away, working on homework. Do it together today.
It could be a "roommate's" job: dishes, vacuuming, cleaning a bathroom. Offer to help!
Just get in there and share the work! This will probably be quite easy, since women spend a whole lot of time helping people anyway. But sometimes having "company" along when there is a job to do makes the task go faster and seem much more fun. It takes the drudgery out of it!
POINTS: 40 for working together in one small way. And hey, can you whistle while you work?? Try it!
What job will you share today?
