Oops, I forgot to change the year on the Small Thing logo!
Girls, we've got a lot of ground to cover this week as we start laying the foundation for creating sanctuary in 2010. But let's not stress out over that today.
Today, we will keep it easy. Light. Fun. Just the way we like it.
See, yesterday, I had the exhilarating experience of hauling out two large black trash bags full of trash - from my kitchen pantry and fridge.
I'm not proud of that.
But I love the way it made me feel. I should have cleared out the fridge and pantry before the holidays arrived, but I didn't have time. So my entire family had to deal with the disorganized mess while they were here over Christmas.
Girls, I had stale crackers from 2007 in there. Petrified marshmallows. Honey packets from the last time I ate at Cracker Barrel, in 2006. Pickled jalapenos that expired while George Bush was in office. Bags of chip dust, old oatmeal...all in addition to the regular trash under the sink.
My trash bag rampage started as a casual "I think I'll straighten this shelf" activity and a 13 gallon kitchen garbage bag. It ended with fireworks, a parade and a gold star I gave myself for going above and beyond my wildest dreams for the day.
That's what a "Small Thing" can do. Woo!
Today's Small Thing is to fill a kitchen trash bag with trash from around the house. You can drag the bag around from room to room, or you can stand in one spot, like I did, and start dumping. It is liberating to clear the debris and get it out of the house! Saying goodbye is easier than you think.
POINTS: 40 for filling one 13 gallon bag.
BONUS POINTS: 20 points for each additional bag, up to 3 (60 extra points!)
By the way, I'm looking for peacocks this year....huh? Go read and find out what I mean.
