I've never made a secret about my reluctance to clean and organize. That's because I have "better, more important" things to do with my time. However, I find that I waste more time thinking about ways to avoid housework than if I actually just got in there and did the job! It's so ironic.
See, one of the ways I talk myself out of doing tasks is by OVER-estimating the time it will take me to do them.
Why, I couldn't possibly unload the dishwasher! I only have one hour!
Duh, that takes like, forever.

That's where my best friend comes in.
Setting a timer and playing Beat the Clock works wonders on kids AND people like me. I'll bet most of you have tried it, too, and can sing the praises of racing to the finish before the buzzer goes off.
It's a MIRACLE MACHINE!
This little guy has made me realize just how much can be accomplished in one small chunk of time! Good-bye, lazy excuses. Hello, Organized Me!
Today's Small Thing is to pick a task you've been putting off, and set a timer for 15 minutes. See if you can get the job within that amount of time! Folding laundry, vacuuming, dishes....you simply cannot believe how much you can get done when you've got a fire lit under your derriere.
POINTS: 40 for setting a timer for 15 minutes of kick-butt work
BONUS POINTS: 40 more for an extra 15 minute chunk
Let us know: did you get more done than you thought you could?
