Fabiola mentioned having to sew a button on her husband's shirt the other day, and wondered if I'd already done a Small Thing about buttons or sewing.
As a matter of fact, I haven't.
I actually planned on posting a Small Thing about mending last week, but got derailed when I couldn't find the PERFECT song I'd picked to go with it:
"There's a Hole in my Bucket," as performed by Walt Disney's Goofy.
I don't know why that song is unavailable on the playlist selections, because you'd think there'd be a pretty good demand for it.
In lieu of Goofy's rendition of the ultimate mending song, we'll go with "Thread Your Needle" to inspire some needle & thread action for Today's Small Thing. What could you do with a threaded needle today?
I have a pair of pants that is hemmed with Duck Tape, a "temporary" fix that has lasted lo, nearly 3 years. I'm not proud of that. I have two other pairs of pants that are hemmed with safety pins. You can't really tell, unless the light hits my pant legs just right and then you can see the glints of metal holding my hem up. I don't even care.
Until today, that is. Today, I care.
You can patch, stitch, wheedle and needle today. You could cheat and use fusing tape, if you are so inclined. Fix a button, a snap, a hem or a zipper...you decide what to mend or sew! If you're a crafter, why not earn points for quilting, needlepoint or crocheting? Let's count that, too!
POINTS: 50 for leaving something in stitches
