It's Good Friday and I am so grateful for the freedom Jesus Christ bought for me so long ago in a dusty old town, on a rugged old cross. He ransomed me from the power of sin and the grip of death by paying the ultimate price for my salvation.
I've been set free.
I'm FREE! Oh, how I wish I would live each day like I believe it!
This weekend we will enjoy a brunch on Saturday with my husband's family, and an Easter dinner on Sunday with my side of the family. There will be colored eggs and candy and baskets. The kids will wear shoes that hurt their feet and their hair will look pretty decent for most of the day. We'll fuss over the ham and talk about the cheesy potatoes.
There are a million small things that go into making a holiday special. Between remembering if the kids have pants that still fit and socks to go with a new dress, we try to pay attention to the details that everyone appreciates.
With so much to do, today's Small Thing will be the FREEDOM to choose how you want to spend your effort. It has to be Easter-related in that it should be something toward making the time more special. It could be sprucing up the house or plumping pillows. It could be adding a pretty bow to a basket. It could be setting out the good dishes or reading the Easter account in the Bible.
You know better than anyone else what your loved ones would like. Or what YOU would like to do.
I think I will make my fruit plate for Saturday brunch a bit more special by paying attention to the presentation. I'm not going to throw a bunch of fruit into a bowl...Oh, no. I will slice and cut things into artful creations. It will only take a few more minutes and will take our brunch experience up a notch. Why not??
