There aren't many TV shows that I watch regularly. Even fewer that I watch religiously. But on Thursday nights, you'll find me parked in front of the tube, enjoying my slice of reality TV. Please don't call me on the phone between 7 and 8, Central Standard Time. I'll be lost in Survivor, Fiji Islands.
I don't know why I love this show so much. Perhaps it's the "Outwit, Outlast, Outplay" slogan that appeals to me. Ya'll know how much slogans mean to me. I also love the sets (such artistry!) and the challenges.
Better yet is the microcosm of human nature that plays out on a deserted island. The backstabbing, the alliances, the challenges, the rewards--all done in brightly colored buffs. I'm always rooting for the underdogs, the good people who make it through on the stuff that helps you make it through life in the Real World: cooperation, social graces, strength and luck.
I gave up on Lost (too weird), Prison Break (too violent), Grey's Anatomy (too yuckky), ER (don't know why) and most of the other shows for offensive content. So now I'm down to 24 and Survivor as my "must see" shows. I don't know what that says about me, but there you have it.
Oh, and did I mention that I'm a sucker for American Idol? Yep, it's true. So don't call me on Wednesday nights either.
