I'm a late-comer to friendships with other women. Growing up, I always had my sister, and she is still my closest friend. But we moved quite a bit and I never really had the girlfriends other girls seemed to have. And then I married young and started a family....well, you know how that goes. Responsibilities and pressures just sort of squeezed out the time for "outside" friendships.
But my girls had coined the phrase "Company Girl" when they were little, and it just kinda stuck with me. It was something they said to each other that simply invited one another to keep company - just because. And it taught me so much about friendship. It taught me that finding - and being- a friend can be simpler than I ever thought. It's made me appreciate the women in my life who care about me, and it's made me want to step out and be a better friend to those around me. That's what this book is all about.
