Now that you've gotten to know me through this blog, I thought it was high time you met me "in real life," or at least in real YouTube life.
I made this little clip to invite you to join me in the Small Thing Fun, and to convince you that I'm not as crayzee as I may seem in print. Please disregard the static in my hair and all my "ums." I'm hoping to get less camera-shy so that I can upload videos any ol' time I want.
Oops, I had problems uploading this to YouTube, so here's a tiny thumbnail video you can play until I get it figured out. You may want to pause the music so you can hear me yakk.
As horrifying as it is to see oneself (and worse, to hear the sound of one's own voice) on video, doing this small exercise has made me realize that I'm much more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. It's a fact that I'm a mere ghost in our family photos--a blur in the background and a half-concealed profile as I turn from the flash.
It's a little sad, really. I'll never know how good I really looked when I was 24 because there are no photos of it. Maybe it's better that way. The Real Me might have been far less exciting than the Me I remember.
Today's Small Thing is to think about the Real You. It's taken me a very long time to discover the things I truly love and the things I don't. The things I enjoy and the things that drive me crazy. The things I need and the things I can live without.
I don't love Christmas crowds and standing in line.
I hate Return/Exchange lines.
I love coffee.
I like being alone sometimes. Okay, a lot.
I need my friends.
I don't like eggs in the morning.
I love the Small Things.
I enjoy curling up with a home decorating magazine. (and a cookie)
Since this is the beginning of a very busy month, Today's Small Thing is to do something for the Real You.
